The French airstrike in central Mali on January 3 claimed the lives of 19 civilians, according to a UN report published on Tuesday.

On January 3, 2020, a French strike killed about twenty inhabitants during a wedding in the village of Bount, according to villagers and a Fulani association. The NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) had called for a “rapid and impartial” investigation.

The French and Malian authorities then said that French fighter planes had targeted and eliminated dozens of jihadists and that there were no marriages, women or children.
