Russia hopes to raise its “technical-military cooperation” with Venezuela to “a new level”

The deputy prime minister of RussiaYuri Borísov, showed this Wednesday in Caracas confidence that his country can raise “to a new level” the “military-technical cooperation” and “scientific-military” with Venezuela.

“I hope we can take our relations to a new level in military-technical and military-scientific cooperation,” He said Borisov in a brief statement after meeting in the presidential palace of Miraflores with the president Nicholas Maduro.

During the meeting with Maturethe Russian deputy prime minister explained that they addressed “issues about a wide range of relations” between the two countries.

Finally, Borisov added that they will continue to “protect” and support “the protection of the sovereignty of the State and help in the fight against external interference”.

On January 13, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Riabkov, did not rule out the deployment of military infrastructure in Cuba and Venezuela in an interview with the Russian television channel RTVI.

“I do not want to confirm anything (…), nor rule out anything”, affirmed the “number two” of Russian diplomacy.

But nevertheless, Borisov He did not refer to this statement or detail whether it is part of that “military-technical cooperation.”
