Terror in Tulum: two men are murdered while dining in a luxurious restaurant in Mexico

Two men were killed and one more was wounded in a shooting at an upscale restaurant in TulumCaribbean tourist destination Mexican that faces a wave of violence due to drug trafficking, as revealed this Sunday by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo.

“The FGE Quintana Roo informs that it has started the investigation folder related to the events that occurred in a restaurant located at kilometer 7 of the Tulum-Bocapaila highway where two men lost their lives due to gunshots,” indicated in their official networks.

Although the official information was released this Sunday, witnesses told the local press that Armed individuals entered the Art Beach establishment, one of the most luxurious in Tulum, on Saturday night when the two victims were having dinner.

In addition to the dead, who have not been identified, the Prosecutor’s Office acknowledged that a 24-year-old man was injured.

“The search and tracking protocols were activated to identify the participants in this illicit act”promised the Prosecutor’s Office.

The main suspicion of the authorities is that the attack was due to drug trafficking.

The fact reflects the wave of violence in Quintana Roo, the main tourist state of Mexico.

Just in mid-January, a shooting occurred inside a hotel located in Carmen beachfrom the prestigious chain Xcaretleft two Canadians dead and one injured, presumably involved in the transfer of drugs.

The fact summoned the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) of the United States, in addition to the Canadian Mounted Police.

A week after the event, Argentinean Federico Mazzoni, who was the manager of a popular coffee shop, was shot to death. Carmen beachMamita’s Beach Club.

Months earlier, in October, a shooting at a restaurant in the resort of Tulum, one of the most fashionable places in the Caribbean, left two foreign tourists dead and three others wounded.

The violence has not ceased despite the creation in December of a “tourist security battalion”, made up of nearly 1,500 agents of the National Guard (GN).
