FBI finds body of student who was kidnapped almost two years ago on the US border with Mexico

The FBI found the lifeless body of Miguel Rendon, the 19-year-old student who was kidnapped in May 2020, after traveling from United States until Mexico to visit his family. Her mother had paid ransom money, but she was never given her son.

Only a few months had passed since the global emergency was declared due to the COVID-19 and Miguel, a resident of San Diego (California), decided to cross the US border with Tijuana to reunite with his loved ones; however, that trip turned into a nightmare, reports The Sun.

One night while she was sleeping, Emma Medrano Gallardo, the student’s mother, received a call telling her that her son had been kidnapped.

“Ma’am, we have your son, pay the money, please”, heard the woman from the other end of the phone. The subjects did not identify themselves and only asked for a large sum of money in exchange for Michaelwho was about to graduate from Hoover High School in San Diego.

The woman thought it was a game, so she hung up. Minutes later, on a video call, this mother’s heart stopped. “My heart almost stopped” lamented the woman, recounting what she felt when she saw her son tied up and bloodied.

The next thing Emma heard was the pleas of her son, who asked her without the energy to speak to pay the money. The woman was threatened so that she would not call the police.

Miguel’s family managed to raise the money and it was the young man’s father who took him to Cuauhtémoc Boulevard, near the Parador de Tijuanaon May 29, 2020. His mother would wait at another point where they would hand over her son.

However, Emma waited for hours for her son to arrive, but he never showed up.

The woman made the respective complaint to the authorities, joined search groups in the State and never lost hope of seeing her son alive again.

After almost two years without news of Michael, the FBI contacted the family reporting that they had found his body in Tijuana. Although the student was identified, the causes of his death have not yet been revealed.

The mother has no idea why her son was attacked. She pointed out that Miguel was an athlete and was in his last year of high school. “He was always smiling, funny”the mother lamented. “He had learning disabilities and was a special education student, but he had goals and now he won’t be able to live his life.”

The family decided to share this story on their networks to alert other mothers who constantly cross the border area and asked for help to face this tragedy that changed their lives.
