Zelensky, cautious with the liberation of the Ukrainian city Irpin, warns of “a very difficult situation”

the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskywas cautious this Monday before the liberation of the city of Irpin, on the outskirts of kyiv, after expelling the Russian forces, and warned that the situation in the country “It’s still tense, very difficult.”

Sight: “The extraordinary” death rate of Russian generals in the Ukraine war

“Today we have good news. Our defenders are advancing in the kyiv region, regaining control of Ukrainian territory. Irpin was released.”expressed Zelensky late in the day in a message published on the website of the presidency.

The president thus corroborated the announcement made earlier by the mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, through his Telegram account.

“Irpin is free from the Russian horror. Glory to Ukraine”, was the message conveyed by the mayor, according to the Ukrainian news portal Ukrinform.

That city was the scene of heavy fighting between Russian troops trying to reach the capital and the Ukrainian army.

At the end of last week the Russian advance stalled, which was followed by Moscow’s announcement that the first phase of the military operation had ended and that it would now concentrate its efforts on the “release” from Donbas, in the east of the country.

Zelensky added that “The occupiers are being expelled from Irpin. They are moving away from kyiv.”

The Ukrainian president said that, however, “It is too early to talk about security in this part of our region. The fight continues.”

“Russian troops control the north of kyiv, they have the resources and the manpower. They are trying to rebuild the broken drives. The level of their losses, even 90%, is not an argument for them to stop. Hundreds and hundreds of burned and abandoned enemy team units don’t convince them that this is going to happen to everyone.”he added.

And he mentioned that in Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov, Donbas, the south of Ukraine, “The situation everywhere remains tense, very difficult.”

Zelensky reported that in this “ruthless war” against the Ukrainian people to this day “143 children are known to have died. Mariupol remains blocked. The Russian troops did not allow any humanitarian corridor to be organized today, they did not allow ‘silence’.

He added that “Without excessive euphoria of success. But also without getting nervous. We still need time. We still need weapons. We still have to fight, we have to be patient. We can’t burn emotions right now.”

In his message, Zelensky said that on Monday he spoke with several international leaders, such as the British, Canadian, German and Italian heads of government, as well as with the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

“We agreed with Great Britain to further support our defense and strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation. Canada also supports a tougher world response to the catastrophe created by Russian troops in Ukrainian cities.” reported the Ukrainian president.

Italy said Zelenskyhas agreed to become “one of the guarantors of security” from Ukraine in the new relevant guarantee system that they are developing.

With regard to sanctions against Russia, he stated that it is important “be effective and serious enough.”

For this reason, he announced that as of this week they will create “a group of experts in the Office of the President, Ukrainian and international, who will constantly analyze the sanctions against Russia, which they really influence.

Its objective is that the sanctions work as intended and that there is no possibility of circumventing them.
