The executive director of electoral training and civic education of the Institute, Robert Heycher Cardielspecified that each booth will have three officials who will ensure that at 8:00 local time (in Mexico there are different time zones) or a few minutes later they can be open to citizens.

The exercise, which the president describes as “historic”, comes amid criticism from the opposition considering that, promoted by the head of the Executive himself, it is a permanent campaign to mobilize their bases.

The process has caused harsh clashes between the president and his party, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena, left), with the INE and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF).

For months, the Mexican president has attacked the INE considering that it did not dedicate enough resources to the process or its promotion.

However, the INE He also denounced that the Treasury denied him more resources, as well as the cuts in the general budget that the institution has suffered.

According to data provided by the INE, more than 92.82 million Mexicans over the age of 18 are called to the polls this Sundayin the 57,517 polling stations installed so that citizens can go to cast their vote.

The exercise of revocation of mandate will be considered valid or binding if 40% of the people registered in the nominal list of voters participate.. That is, about 37 million people.

The question, which the president considered “confusing”, is: “Do you agree that Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of the United Mexican States, have his mandate revoked due to loss of trust or continue in the Presidency of the Republic until his term ends?”

And you have these response options: “That the mandate be revoked due to loss of confidence” or “That he continue in the Presidency of the Republic”.

The president has said that he will leave office if the “No” wins, even if the turnout does not reach 40%.

The polls will open at 8:00 local time and close at 18:00.

As in other electoral processes, the INE It will first give, between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., they estimated, a quick count that will take some 1,800 polling stations as a sample and gives a very reliable estimate of the participation and the result of the process.

What is my box?

The National Electoral Institute of Mexico (INE) launched the portal “Locate your Box” so that voters can find their corresponding box. To locate your polling place, it is only necessary to locate the electoral section within the INE voting card.
