The first thing they saw was the woman holding the infant in her arms from a third-floor balcony. It was there that the officer William Puzynski he steeled himself and began to climb the balconies to rescue the little boy. Once in his hands, he carefully lowered it and handed it over to the other agents.

“Just before climbing the building, Puzynski took off his heavy outer bulletproof vest, to which his camera is attached, to make it easier for him to climb. It’s an amazing twist of fate that the camera was able to capture what happened next.”, indicates the letter from the Sheriff’s office.

The recording, which lasts about two minutes, shows the heartbreaking cries of the agents in the middle of the rescue as the tears of the tenants trapped by the fire. “It burns me. I ask you for God”shouted the mother of the one-year-old girl while waiting for the help of the uniformed men.

“Give me the baby”the officer replied as he climbed the building. “Don’t throw it away. Don’t throw it away!”the man began to alert when he saw that the woman intended to throw the infant in the direction of the officers. “No no no!”Puzynski yelled and began to climb faster and faster until he reached the newborn.

“When the mom came and found me, she gave me a hug, so it was gratifying,” he said, and then added: “It’s a different feeling. Some nights you go home and you don’t really know if you’ve made a difference, but in situations like this you feel it and it’s the best feeling in the world.”.
