Federal Judge Brian Cogan handed down the sentence in federal court in Brooklyn. There, the magistrate said that the woman’s shocking crimes “beg for punishment” despite her troubled family history and her raging drug use habit, which “stole something of her free will,” according to statements published in new york post.

“There is nothing that can mitigate what you did here… drug addiction or no drug addiction”Cogan said.

During the sentence, Barini – with long brown hair and blond locks – wept several times. The woman was wearing the prison uniform, a blue jumpsuit.

A cousin of one of the victims spoke before sentencing, saying she did not sympathize with Barini. “I understand that he doesn’t have a good track record,” she said, noting, “But it’s no excuse. He killed four people… He deserves what happens to him now.”

Prosecutors alleged that Barini had delivered doses of fentanyl-laced drugs to victims multiple times in the summer of 2019. The robbery scheme turned deadly three times, in July and August, in Astoria, Woodside and College Point.

Additionally, Barini was accused of giving fentanyl on a date to Zamperoni, who died at an Elmhurst motel on Aug. 18.

The sex worker had tried to dispose of the body by wrapping it in bleach-stained sheets and putting it in a trash can, according to testimony from police officers.

For her part, Barini’s older sister, who identified herself as Sally, said she thought the sentence was “a little harsh” and planned to appeal.

“I think what was not taken into account was that of course what happened was wrong, but the victims put themselves there.”Sally said. “They were not saints,” she emphasized, and continued: “They went with her. They wanted to party and they wanted to get high with her and have sex. It wasn’t like she put a gun to their heads and forced them to go with her.”

The older sister said that Barini is a drug addict who got mixed up with the wrong people.
