The brutal beating of a father to his tennis player daughter in the land of Novak Djokovic

The images paralyze. How far can the demands and severity of parents on their sports children go, which finally becomes abuse. An amateur video captured how a man punished a girl on the tennis court, in a situation that generated enormous outrage. This happened on the slopes of the Estrella Roja club in Belgrade -Nothing less than the city from which he is a native Novak Djokovic– and according to the person who filmed, the aggressor is a club coach, who is nothing more and nothing less than the player’s father, both of Chinese origin and residents of Serbian.

The video was shared by Igor Jukic, a Serbian activist against child abuse, on his Twitter account. “Another brutal violence of a father against his daughter. I received information that it was a family that came from China. We will file criminal charges against this monster as well,” Jukic says in his tweet. I think it would be important for our children to get involved and ask for a report from the Serbian Tennis Association.

In the footage you can see how the man begins to recriminate the young woman, who in a completely submissive position does not resist the violence exerted. The man punches and kicks him. Then, when the girl sits down, her assailant shakes her, throws her to the ground and starts kicking her. It is there that the screams of those who witnessed the scene appear on the scene, and the filming ends.

Finally, after the video went viral, an arrest warrant was ordered that allowed the aggressor to be arrested. Juric’s tweet generated a flood of responses, including former tennis player Pam Shriver, who wrote: “We all need to speak out, and file charges against this type of horrible abuse,” under the hashtag tennis united against abuse (#tennisunitedagainstabuse ). She and she urged to contact Novak Djokovic, as a symbol of the city where this aberrant event took place: “Let’s ask @DjokerNole to help behind the scenes. We all have to work together to stop the abuses. Thank you Igor for doing your part.”

“Novak is not responsible for this and I do not want to involve him in this case. But, the Serbian Tennis Federation and the Belgrade Tennis Federation must react. Because the police have done their job, the aggressor has been arrested… But now, are we going to allow this to continue happening?” asked Juric, who began his campaign against child abuse from a tragic experience of his own: in 2014 , her 15-year-old daughter Tijana was kidnapped and murdered.

Another former tennis player, the Spanish Anabel Medina, Olympic medalist in Beijing 2008 and two-time Roland Garros champion in doubles, also called for special attention to be paid to these cases: “Please… someone do something… my soul breaks. @WTA @ITFTennis. Totally submissive, how many times will she have done it? With what fear will you enter the court to play?
