Adult Happy Meal toys fetch thousands of dollars on eBay

On October 3, McDonald’s launched limited-edition “Happy Meals” for adults in the United States. The menu usually offered to children obviously contained a toy as tradition dictates.

But it wasn’t just any toy: the Happy Meals contained figurines of several characters designed in partnership with the Cactus Plant Flea Market brand, reports CNBC. The brand, very fashionable across the Atlantic, has caused the value of toys to soar.

Figures sold for $9,000

The offer quickly ran out of stock in McDonald’s stores. Taking advantage of the scarcity of figurines, some have bought several Happy Meals to resell the toys on the Internet at sometimes very high prices. Thus, an American recently offered three figurines on eBay for… 300,000 dollars (just over 302,000 euros), relays Capital.

His offer (fortunately?) did not find a taker, but the man was not discouraged and quickly put his lot up for sale again at a more reasonable price: 10,100 dollars. He has since received two offers from buyers. Others sold the figurine they found on their McDonald’s menu, earning $6,900 to $9,000. Not surprisingly, for objects stamped with a brand whose clothes cost several hundred euros at low prices.
