Security of Brasilia is reinforced before the call for Bolsonarist protests

Security in the central region of Brasilia It will be reinforced this Tuesday, in view of the forecast of protests by followers of the far-right president Jair Bolsonaro who continue to be dissatisfied with their electoral defeat.

The police will restrict in a “preventive” way the access of vehicles and pedestrians to the Plaza de los Tres Poderes, where the buildings of the Presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court are located, after intelligence sectors identified “the possibility of public events in the central region of Brasilia”, reported in a statement the Secretary of Security of the Federal District.

Various publications that circulated on social networks on Monday call Brazilians “patriots” to congregate in front of the Army headquarters, located a few kilometers from the central square this Tuesday, which is a national holiday.

Two weeks ago, thousands of protesters gathered in that and other barracks in the country asking for the intervention of the Armed Forces after the presidential ballot on October 30, where Bolsonaro was defeated by his rival Luis Inácio Lula da Silva by a narrow margin (50, 9% to 49.1%).

Since then, many have remained camped in front of the military headquarters in Brasilia, located a few kilometers from the central region, and in front of a barracks in Sao Paulo.

The protesters denounce a “fraud” allegedly perpetrated with the electronic ballot box system, installed in Brazil since 1996, and questioned without foundation by Bolsonaro.

That possibility, however, was ruled out by numerous international observers and a report from the Armed Forces themselves released on Wednesday.

After the electoral defeat, Bolsonaro remains in seclusion and has practically absented himself from public life, including from social networks.

Meanwhile, the transition process between his government and Lula’s teams, who will take office on January 1, is advancing.
