Shooting at a Colorado LGBT nightclub leaves at least 5 dead and 18 injured

Colorado police in USAreported this Sunday that five people were killed and 18 wounded in a shooting at a nightclub.

Lt. Pamela Castro, with the Colorado Springs Police Department, said police received a report of a shooting at the Club Q at 11:57 p.m. Saturday

Castro said there was a suspect who was injured and was being treated. She added that it was not immediately clear if the officers had shot her. She maintained that the FBI was on the scene and assisting in the case.

Club Q is a nightclub for gays and lesbians that presents a “Drag Diva Drag Show” on Saturdaysaccording to their website.

“Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community”,pposted the club on its Facebook page. He said his prayers are with the victims and families, and “we appreciate the quick reactions of the heroic customers who subdued the gunman and put an end to this hateful attack.”

The motive behind the shooting was not immediately known, but it brought back memories of the 2016 massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, which killed 49 people. And it happened in a state that has experienced several high-profile mass murders, including at Columbine High School, a suburban Denver movie theater in 2012 and a Boulder supermarket last year.
