Who is Vivian Polanía, the judge who went viral for smoking semi-naked in a virtual hearing

The recent video in which judge Heidi Vivian Polanía Franco appears half-naked and smoking in a virtual hearing, reopened the debate in Colombia about her functions as a public servant and about the hot images she posts on social networks.

A new investigation

After the video in which she appears lying on her bed, with little clothing and while smoking a cigarette, went viral, The National Commission for Judicial Discipline asked the Santander Sectional Commission to investigate whether the official committed a disciplinary offense.

“I am sending you, due to competence, the reports published by different media, related to the alleged incursion into disciplinary offenses by Dr. Vivian Polanía, municipal criminal judge with functions of control of guarantees of cucutaon the occasion of the context in which it developed a virtual audience”says the statement.

Likewise, in September 2020, the Disciplinary Chamber of the Superior Council of the Judiciary of Norte de Santander opened an investigation into the judge, due to the scandal that the images and press headlines were unleashing where she was described as “the sexiest judge”.

The Sectional Council of the Judiciary of Norte de Santander immediately issued a circular reminding the servers of the judicial offices “take care that his personal presentation corresponds to the decorum that should characterize the exercise of his lofty mission”.

Some time later, in February 2021, the Superior Court of the Cúcuta Judicial District issued a circular recommending that judges keep the cameras on in all judicial proceedings. This measure would not have been complied with by Polania.

Although the judge has not ruled on what happened in the virtual hearing this Thursday, on her Instagram account she wrote “Only God knows the cross you are wearing.”
