Mexico: lynched to death three people, including a minor, for alleged robbery

Three men, including a minor, were lynched this Saturday by residents of the municipality of Chalco, a neighbor of Mexico Cityafter being accused of robbery, local authorities reported.

The prosecutor’s office Mexico state He detailed on Twitter that he is investigating the aggression to which they were subjected the victims, 22, 21 and 17 years old.

“Testimonies indicate that several people attacked the victims in retaliation for possible robberies,” Added the dependency.

For decades lynchings have been recorded in different communities of Mexicobut they have multiplied in recent years along with the increase in crime rates.

Nevertheless, in some cases the victims have been the target of false accusations.

Last June, a 31-year-old man who was a legislative adviser was beaten and burned alive in the state of Puebla (center) by a mob of about 200 people who accused him without proof of kidnapping.

In 2019, also in Puebla, seven men were beaten and burned to death after being accused of kidnapping.

Those responsible for these attacks are generally not identified or arrested.
