Venezuela: the wife of Alex Saab, an alleged figurehead for Maduro, joins the dialogue team with the opposition

President Nicolas Maduro joined the negotiations with the opposition of Venezuela to Camila Fabri, wife of alex saaba businessman close to the government extradited to the United States on accusations of money laundering, the official delegation announced Thursday.

Saab was extradited to the United States after being detained in Cape Verde on June 12, 2020.

The government of Ripe describes the trial against this businessman as “illegal”, alleging that he had “diplomatic” status.

The opposition, in contrast, accuses him of being a “front man” for Maduro.

Saab has been linked by journalistic investigations to corruption cases related to a state program for the distribution of basic food in Venezuelaas well as with the government plan for popular housing.
