Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeausupported this Tuesday the protests in China against covid zero measures in the country and stated that everyone should be able to demonstrate.
Trudeau declared in Ottawa that “everyone in China should be allowed to speak up, they should be allowed to share their perspectives and, of course, speak out.”

The Canadian Prime Minister added that Canada supports the people “what is being expressed”.
Trudeau’s words come after citizen protests took place over the weekend in some large Chinese cities against the authorities’ zero covid policy.
In the protests, one of the symbols has been blank pages, which precisely represent the discontent of citizens for not being able to express their opinions.
Trudeau’s support for the protesters in China comes a few hours after the Canadian government presented a strategic plan for the Indo-Pacific that is based on a hardening of its position on China.

The document qualifies China as a power “disruptive” which increasingly separates itself from Western values.
The plan includes an increase in Canada’s military presence in the region and increased intelligence cooperation with allies in the region such as South Korea and Japan.
