Increases the number of fatalities from landslides in Brazil

Rescue teams working in the search for missing people after a landslide that swept away at least 15 vehicles in a municipality south of Brazilconfirmed this Tuesday that at least two people died in the disaster but it is still unknown if there are more victims.

The accident occurred on Monday night at kilometer 669 of the BR 376 federal highway, in the jurisdiction of Guaratuba, a municipality in the state of Paraná, and, in addition to two confirmed deaths, six people have been rescued alive, according to the Corps firemen’s.

According to the organization, the intense rain that is recorded in the place has made rescue work difficult and the total number of deaths and missing persons due to the accident is still uncertain.

According to the published bulletin, the landslide that interrupted traffic on the highway in both directions dragged off the track at least 10 cars and 6 trucks that were in a stretch of about 200 meters from the highway.
