The government of USA announced on Tuesday approval of a $1 billion sale of FS-LIDS anti-drone systems and other equipment to Qatar.
“The proposed sale will enhance Qatar’s ability to deal with current and future threats by providing electronic and kinetic defeat capabilities against unmanned aircraft systems,” the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement.

“The estimated total cost of the program is $1 billion. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to enhance the security of a friendly nation.”he added.
The announcement of the sale of the systems follows repeated drone strikes claimed by Tehran-backed Houthi rebels elsewhere in the Gulf region, and as Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian cities further highlight the threat. What do drones mean?

The State Department approved the possible sale, and DSCA on Tuesday provided the required notice to Congress, which has yet to approve the transaction.
