The mayor of RomeRoberto Gualtieri, confirmed and regretted this “very serious episode of violence that has shocked the city” and expressed his “closeness” to the families of the three victims and the rest of those affected by the event.
The shooting took place around 9:30 a.m. (8:30 GMT) this Sunday at the premises of a bar on Via Monte Gibertoin the suburb of Colle Salarynorth of the city, where a neighborhood meeting was taking place.
Right now one of the tenants of the community entered the premises, closed the door and opened fire on the administrators to later shoot other neighborsaccording to what some eyewitnesses explained to RAI public television.
The shooter, a 57-year-old man, was located, disarmed and arrested. by agents of the carabineros (militarized police) and is already in police stations.
For now the reasons for the event are unknownalthough according to the first reconstructions the origin is the disagreements between the murderer and the administrators of the property.
Specifically, there are three wounded by firearms who are being treated in the Roman hospitals of Sant’Andrea, Umberto I and Gemelli, according to the health advisor for the Lazio region, Alessio D’Amato.
Another has only fainted from the shock, but has been sent to the Sandro Pertini hospital
Neighbors have assured RAI that they knew the attacker, whom they describe as “closed” and “reserved”, and apparently he was in dispute with the community, which he had threatened in the past.
They were the ones who raised the alarm, immediately calling the emergency services, who sent the police and four ambulances to the scene.
Gualtieri has called a meeting of the committee for order and public safety for tomorrow.
