Greek MEP Eva Kaili, one of the vice-presidents of the European Parliament, and three other people were charged and jailed on Sunday in Belgium as part of a corruption investigation in connection with Qatar inside this institution, a judicial source informed AFP.

The attorney general’s office did not give any names when announcing the preventive detention of four of the six people arrested in the last 48 hours, but a judicial source told AFP that the Greek MEP was among them. On Saturday night, a search took place at the home of a second MEP, according to the statement from the prosecution.
