El Salvador: a pro-government mayor is detained for lack of payment to her employees

She added that she will be accused of the crimes of misappropriation of labor quotas, breach of duties to the detriment of the Public Administration and embezzlement of public funds.

President Nayib Bukele reacted to the arrest and pointed out that in The Savior “Corruption was never fought, much less against officials of the same government party.”

According to various local media publications, the employees of the mayor’s office of Soyapango have suspended the work of garbage collection. The workers denounced the late payment of salary, delivery of a bonus and other labor benefits.

Montano won the municipal elections in 2021 with the flag of NI, a party founded by a Bukele movement and that it is directed by one of his relatives.

In this same municipality the Government of bukele It has placed a fence with some 10,000 soldiers and police as part of its plan to combat gangs and within the framework of the emergency regime in force since the end of March.
