Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced today in a virtual briefing that one of the priorities this year is to strengthen ties with the Latin American region.
“This year Latin America It will be a priority for us. This is the last region of the world that we have not yet thoroughly probed. We already have an African strategy, we are applying it, we have an Asian strategy, we are applying it”, he stated.

He added that “the next strategic document to be adopted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this year will be the Latin American strategy” and assured that in 2023 there will be “a strong return” of Ukraine to this region.
He further stated that the inauguration of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvaon January 1, represents an important event in the region.
He recalled that a Ukrainian delegation headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister and head of EconomyYuliia Svyrydenko attended the ceremony and had substantial meetings not only with the Brazilian president but also with the heads of other foreign delegations.
“This high-level visit demonstrated the interest of our State in reestablishing the Ukrainian-Brazilian dialogue, giving additional impetus to trade and economic relations. We have received signals from the Brazilian side and we will work actively with them, as well as with other countries in this region,” he said. Kuleba.
