The political crisis in Peru began on December 7, after the decision of the president Pedro Castillo to dissolve the Legislature shortly before he debated a motion of no confidence against him for the third time.

Despite this, legislators met and approved the removal of the president and the appointment of Vice President Dina Boluarte as the new president, which generated massive protests throughout the country.

So far, 41 demonstrators and a police officer have died in the protests, as well as 8 more people who have lost their lives from various causes caused by the blockades.

The protests demand the resignation of Boluarte, the closure of Congress, early elections and the calling of a constituent assembly.
