Millionaire properties, furs and a dog: how the exuberant inheritance of Ivana Trump was distributed

Million dollar properties in New York, Florida and St. Tropez, a dog named Tiger Trump and nothing for his ex husband. Forbes brought to light this week new details about the will of the deceased ivana trumpwho left behind $34 million in assets when she died in July 2022 due to an accidental fall down the stairs of her home.

According to probate documents obtained by Forbes, most of the estate of Donald Trump’s ex-wife was to be divided among their three children, Don Jr, Ivanka and Eric. She also left two properties to friends and tried to leave another of hers to her ex-husband, Rossano Rubicondi, but he died a few months before her, in October 2021. The former president of the United States, on the other hand, received nothing from she.

The most important asset of Ivana’s estate is a townhouse in New York, located half a block from Central Park. Her heirs are trying to sell it for $26.5 million, Forbes reported. The proceeds will be divided equally between Don Jr, Ivanka and Eric, according to her mother’s will.

In 2019, Forbes estimated that Don Jr. and Eric had a net worth of about $25 million each, while Ivanka was then worth $375 million, having created her own fashion label and married Jared. Kushner, a member of another wealthy family.

Also, that same year, the three children of Ivana and former President Trump divested of their 7.5% stake in the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, as part of a massive sale that allowed them each to earn more than 10 million, according to estimates by the American magazine specialized in business and finance.

Although the fortune their mother has left them is significant, it is modest in comparison to Trump’s empire, valued at $3.2 billion.

The biggest beneficiary of Ivana’s will after her children could be Dorothy Curry, who worked for the Trumps for decades. She started out as a babysitter, “with sparkle in her eyes and a lot of nervous energy,” Ivana wrote in her book Raising Trump.

Curry was a religious woman, and every night she would kneel by the children’s beds and teach them prayers that their mother did not know in English.

“I can’t say that religion plays a big role in my life now,” Ivana wrote in her 2017 book, “but I’m glad the kids grew up talking to God.” The one-time nanny later became Ivana’s assistant and remained close to the family for years.

Curry, whose address is listed in an apartment building in Queens, a New York borough on Long Island, was awarded a condo in Florida, estimated by online real estate services to be worth more than $1 million.

The will also specifies that Curry is to keep Ivana’s Yorkshire terrier, named Tiger Trump.

“Dorothy is my second mother,” Eric Trump noted in his mother’s book. “She has raised me since I was a baby, and we are incredibly close. I love her immensely.”

Eric, the third son of the magnate and Ivana Trump, is responsible for managing the inheritance and its dissolution, after his mother appointed him her personal representative. The will specifies that if he could not perform the duties, the responsibility would pass to Ivana’s accountant.

The estate also includes some foreign properties. Ivana intended to leave a property in the French seaside town of St. Tropez to Rossano Rubicondi, her fourth husband. But that was not possible since the Italian actor and model died in 2021 at the age of 49.

The Italian press published that the supposed cause of death had to do with skin cancer, which he had been fighting for more than a year. A time in which Rossano and Ivana Trump had strengthened their relationship. So much so that, according to the Daily Mail, they were contemplating the possibility of remarrying.

Ivana donated another property in St. Tropez to her friend, Evelyne Galet. Forbes was unable to determine how Ivana knew Galet, or who exactly the woman is.

Ivana also left something for charity. All of her clothing, she ordered, was to be turned over to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. She made an exception though: she ordered her furs to be sold and the profits from her to go to her three children.

Records of all of this are on file in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Ivana spent the winter in Miami, the summer in St. Tropez, and the fall and spring in New York. But she declared Florida, a state with no income tax, as her official residence. Donald Trump and his three children also now live there.

Ivana’s estate is large enough that the Trumps have to file a federal inheritance tax return. The Internal Revenue Service allows anyone to inherit $12 million tax-free, but the government keeps up to 40% of everything else. Assuming Ivana’s assets are $34 million, estate taxes could be $8.7 million. In her will, Ivana specified that her assets should be used to cover those taxes.
