The London Government will play a leading role in the core of allies who will pursue criminal accountability for Russia for his illegal invasion of Ukraineexplained the head of the Foreign Office in a statement released today.

Together with other international partners invited by Ukraine, the United Kingdom will assess how criminal responsibility can be ensured, evaluating, for example, whether it is feasible to create a new “hybrid” court, integrated into the national judicial system of Ukrainewhich includes international elements.

“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is an appalling violation of the rules-based international order,” Cleverly pointed out.

The minister also pointed out thatThe atrocities we have witnessed in the Ukraine are diabolical, thousands of soldiers and civilians killed, and millions more displaced, forced to flee for their lives in the most horrendous of circumstances.”

The Tory politician remarks that “these atrocities must not go unpunished” and that is why the United Kingdomhas accepted Ukraine’s invitation to this coalition, to bring our legal expertise to explore options to ensure that Russia’s leaders are fully held accountable for their actions.”

The Government’s note recalls that last March the United Kingdom led the efforts to refer the situation in Ukraine before the International Criminal Court, which now has the support of 42 other countries.

The United Kingdom it also provided £1 million for the International Criminal Court to increase its evidence-gathering capacity and provide greater psychosocial support to witnesses and survivors of the conflict.

The attorney general, Victoria Prentis, stressed in the same statement that “the unprovoked invasion of Russia is barbaric.”

“The UK stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and we are committed to helping them secure justice for a growing catalog of war crimes.”he added.

Prentis commented that “Ukraine’s resolve to introduce trials in the midst of open conflict is extraordinary.”
