“From a military point of view, I still maintain that this year it will be very, very difficult to completely drive Russian forces out of all the occupied areas of Ukraine.”General Milley told reporters, during a meeting of allies of Ukraine at an American base in Germany.
“This is not to say that it cannot happen. But it will be very, very difficult.” added.
Instead, General Milley stated that he believes a “sustained stabilization of the defense at the front”.
“I think it is very, very possible that the Ukrainians will carry out a significant offensive”but claimed that “This will depend on the delivery of equipment and training”.
The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, declared during the meeting that he foresees a counteroffensive of Ukraine in the boreal spring.
