Colombia: brutal beating of the president of JAC of Medellín against a garbage collector is denounced

Indignation and rejection has caused the brutal aggression by the president of the Community Action Board of the Carambolas neighborhood, Manrique, against an older adult who is dedicated to waste collection in Medellín, Colombia.

The violent event was recorded on the video and a man is observed in a pool table arguing with the elderly man and after kicking him, he hits him in the face on different occasions due to the impossibility of the assaulted person to defend himself.

The attacker was identified on social networks, noting that he is the president of the Community Action Board (JAC) of the María Cano Carambolas neighborhood, in Manrique, northeast of the city.

The older adult ended up with blood on his face and mouth due to the magnitude of the beating he received.

For its part, the Emvarias company, where the victim of the assault works, rejected the fact, indicating that this act of intolerance took place last Friday, January 20, and that the person attacked is engaged in door-to-door waste collection.

He also indicated that the work of the garbage collector is done through the Local Action Board through a social contracting project in areas of difficult access in Medellín.

“Due to this situation, the audit of Emvarias Grupo EPM advances in the investigation of the case to proceed with the legal actions and the cancellation of the contract with the JAC in mention”, indicated the company in a statement. Likewise, it assured that they are carrying out permanent accompaniment to the person attacked.
