“For now the matter has not been raised” by Polandwhich must make an official request, said the minister, interviewed in Paris by the French channel LCI.

The German government is under pressure to supply Ukraine with Leopard heavy tanks, which can have a significant battlefield impact against Russian troops.

Poland and Finland proposed to deliver the tanks leopard that they own, but require the official acceptance of Germany to be re-exported, since they are made in Germany.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz has so far refused to comment on this matter or on the direct delivery of these leopard for Germany.

Questioned on the issue on Sunday as part of a joint conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, the German chancellor was evasive, referring to the need to act in concert with Ukraine’s allies on the delivery of weapons.

It is not the first time that the Green ministers of the government, in particular Baerbock, have taken a more radical line than the chancellor on the issue of support a Ukraine.
