Six dead leave shooting in eastern Mexico

Six dead and one wounded left a shooting recorded this Sunday on a highway in the state of Veracruz (east), where one of the main seaports of Mexicoand that suffers incessant violence due to fights between drug traffickers, authorities reported.

“So far they report six deaths and one injured” in “attacks with firearms” road registered veracruz–jalapareported on Twitter the Secretary of Public Security of veracruzwithout giving more details.

veracruzinternationally known for its coffee and vanilla, is also one of the routes most used by drug traffickers for the transfer of drugs to USA.

Last Tuesday the government reported that the intentional homicides in Mexico they were reduced 7.1% in 2022, compared to 2021, with a total of 30,968 cases in East country of 126 million inhabitants.

Mexico records about 340,000 dead -mostly attributed to actions of organized crime- since 2006 when a controversial anti-drug offensive was deployed with increasing military participation.
