the postcard of Venice that tends to multiply in the world is that of a gondola, navigating through one of its famous canals under one of its unmistakable bridges.
However, this image does not reflect the reality that is being seen in the Italian city in recent days.

And it is that at a time when people are more concerned about floods, Venice is suffering from an unusually low tide that makes it impossible for its gondolas, water taxis and ambulances to navigate many of its canals.
A drought that, according to experts, has been produced by the combination of lack of rain, a high-pressure weather system, a full moon, and ocean currents.
Added to this is the lack of snow that the Alps have had, which has affected the levels of rivers and lakes in northern Italy.
An example of how the drought is affecting is Lake Garda, which reached the lowest water levels since it has been recorded.
One resident commented that she has never seen the lake this dry since she has lived there for 18 years, to the point that she can walk to an island that she used to reach by boat.
Meanwhile, the water level of the Po River, the longest in Italy, is 61% less than what it usually has at this time of year.
In July 2022 Italy suffered its worst drought in 70 years and declared a state of emergency in some areas.
A scenario that is feared to happen again this year.
