Anti-Chavista party asks former Oil Minister to clarify corruption case

The Venezuelan political party movement to socialism (MAS) demanded this Monday the former Minister of Petroleum Tareck El-Aissamiwho recently resigned from his position to “support“the investigation for corruption that is taking place within the state Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), that “face the country” and explain the criminal acts related to the company.

“Where is Tareck El-Aissami? Why don’t you face the country? Explain to us what his legal situation is in the face of these embarrassing acts of corruption in pdvsa”, demanded the vice president of this organization, Maria Verdealcited in a statement.

For the political leader, the corruption plot revealed this month has “shocked” to all Venezuelans, so from the FURTHER They hope that an investigation will be carried out in accordance with the established regulations.

In this sense, he recalled that it is not the national Executive that is responsible for investigating acts of corruption, but that it is a task of the “jurisdictional bodies, the Public ministry (MP/Prosecutor’s Office), the courts or security agencies”.

However, he considered that Venezuela there is no control over the actions of officials and public institutions do not fulfill their control function.

“Could it be that the ostentatious signs of life that certain officials wear are not perceived by anyone, only citizens? This Saturday, the Prosecutor’s Office detailed that a total of 25 people -14 State officials and 11 businessmen- have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in a corruption scheme denounced by the Government of Venezuela.

At a press conference, the attorney general, Tarek William Saabexplained that almost all of those involved are related to irregularities committed within the Superintendence of Cryptoactives and the Vice Presidency of Commerce and Supplies of the state oil company PDVSA.

In the same way, he announced that the Police are looking for another 11 people for these events.
