A two-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after being abused by her family’s dog.
Alaruh, two, was playing at home in Adelaide, Australia when the 35kg South African Boerboelmastiff attacked her.
The toddler was taken to hospital with facial injuries after Monday afternoon’s attack.
Anthony Dear, a neighbor of the family, said the giant dog “growled.”
He said they found the dog on the street and locked him in his garage.
Mr Dear told the advertiser: “He wasn’t aggressive or anything.
“I don’t know why it ripped down there.”
Chris Walker, Alaruh’s father, told 7News that he heard the dog growling before seeing him attack his daughter.
Neighbors said he was very upset.
One said, “Of course [he was] kinda crazy because one of his kids got hurt.
“The ambulances arrived just as I pulled up.
“The dog was down here and the ambulances were everywhere.”
The dog, named Joop, was seized by rangers from the City of Port Adelaide’s Enfield Council.
A spokesperson said: “The owner handed over the dog and it was immediately removed from the premises.”
The dog is being held in kennels while authorities conduct an investigation.
