Connor Sturgeon, 25, opened fire Monday at an Old National Bank branch where he worked. He killed five people and wounded eight before being shot dead by Louisville, Kentucky, police. USA.

Rebecca Buchheit-Simsa bank manager, told CNN that he virtually attended the meeting and saw his co-workers being killed.

The attacker also broadcast the shooting live on the Instagram social network.

“It is tragic to know that this incident was broadcast and captured,” Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, chief of the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department, said later.

The company Goalowner of Facebook and Instagram, said in a statement that had “promptly withdrawn the live broadcast of this tragic incident.”

Police arrived at the scene of the shooting three minutes after receiving a 911 call about the attack and found Sturgeon still firing, Louisville Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey said.

The official Nickolas Wilt26, ran up to the attacker and was shot in the head, according to the Louisville police chief.

Wilt underwent surgery and is in critical condition.

The five fatalities were identified as Tommy Elliott, Joshua Barrick, Juliana Farmer, Deana Eckert and James Tutt.

Originally from Greenville, Indiana, Sturgeon graduated from the Floyd Central High Schoolwhere he stood out for his academic and sports skills, according to the American press.

The shooter’s father, Todd Sturgeon, was the head coach of the University of Indianapolis men’s basketball team for 10 years and then coached basketball and taught US history at his son’s high school, according to news reports and your LinkedIn profile.

After finishing school, Connor Sturgeon studied Finance at the University of Alabama and was a member of the Young Professionals board for Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana, according to his LinkedIn profile. She was also a 2015 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist.

CNN reported that he graduated from the University of Alabama in December 2020. He participated in an accelerated master’s program, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance at the same time.

On LinkedIn he wrote that he did an internship at the Old National Bank of Louisville for three consecutive summers, between 2018 and 2020, before joining the company full-time in June 2021.

Rebecca Buchheit-Sims told CNN that Connor Sturgeon had a “drab personality. His temperament is quite discreet. I have never seen the boy get angry or upset about anything in public. He was more or less relaxed.”

He added that he knew nothing about the attacker having any previous complaints or threats. He remembered it as an “extremely intelligent” person.

According to CNN, a former high school classmate who knew Sturgeon and his family said he never saw any “kind of warning signs that this could happen.”

“This is a total shock. He was a very good boy who came from a very good family,” said the partner, who asked not to be named and acknowledged that he had not spoken to Sturgeon in recent years. “I can not believe it”.

CNN reported that in a 2018 university essay published on the website Course Heroa user identified as a student at the University of Alabama named Connor Sturgeon wrote that he had had trouble adjusting to school.

“My self-esteem has long been an issue for me… As a late developer in middle and high school, I struggled to some degree to fit in, and this has given me a somewhat negative image of myself that persists today. Making friends has never been particularly easy, so I have more experience than most in operating alone,” the essay read.

He added that in college he had “started to mature socially and I’m starting to see improvements in this area,” and that he hoped “to become more self-aware and start to become a ‘better’ person.”
