Colombia confirms 20 guests to the conference on Venezuela

The Chancellery of Colombia confirmed this Monday that it has invited 20 countries to participate in the international conference on Venezuela which will be held on Tuesday in Bogotawho will meet with the Colombian president, Gustavo Petroto try to unblock the dialogue between the Government of Nicolas Maduro and the opposition anti-chavista.

the guests are Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, South Africa, Turkey, Spain, United States and United States and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell.

The delegations that will participate in the International Conference on the political process in Venezuela will begin to arrive at Colombia this Monday “in the afternoon”, reported the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Already on Tuesday it is scheduled to meet around 11:00 (16:00 GMT) in thethe Palace of San Carlos, headquarters of the Colombian Foreign Ministry. The installation of the meeting will be the responsibility of the Colombian president.

At the end of the day, the Colombian Foreign Minister, Alvaro Leyvawill deliver statements to the media.

At the moment, the high representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell; the chancellors of ArgentinaSantiago Cafiero, and from Chile, Alberto van Klaveren, as well as the secretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, Gisela Padovanand the former foreign minister of that country, Celso Amorim.

The United States will be represented by the counsel of the White House for Latin America, Juan González, who will be accompanied by the special presidential adviser for the Americas, Chris Dodd, and by the principal deputy adviser for National Security, jon finer.

In order to unclog the negotiation process, Petro announced this conference last month in which, among other issues, the lifting of sanctions against Venezuela.

the opponent Juan Guaido announced today that it was in Colombia, where he hopes to meet with the international delegations that will participate in the conference. However, the Colombian Foreign Ministry assured that the opponent has not been invited to the meeting and, therefore, will not participate.

The former deputy, who is prohibited from leaving Venezuela for having multiple judicial processes open against him, he assured that he hopes that this summit will guarantee “that the regime of Ripe return to the negotiating table in Mexico (officially paralyzed since November 2022) and a credible timetable for free and fair elections is agreed upon.”
