This is how the plot to falsify covid certificates in favor of Bolsonaro operated

A plot “solid” and “permanent” to falsify vaccination certificates against covid-19 “in benefit ofof the then president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022), his youngest daughter and his closest advisors. This is how the Brazilian authorities summarize this new scandal that has once again put the far-right leader in the eye of the hurricane.

The objective: to find evidence of the existence of an illegal network in which the military, advisers, politicians and doctors supposedly participated, and where the role played by the former president is not entirely clear.

All of this set up to falsify anticovid vaccination cards and thus be able to bypass health restrictions in third countries.

The investigation documents have been declassified today by the judge Alexander de Moraesin charge of the case and who is already conducting other investigations against Bolsonaro.

The Federal Police described the operation of the plot throughout 114 pages that have resulted in the imprisonment of six suspects, including a former Bolsonaro aide, lieutenant-colonel Mauro Cidtwo of his bodyguards and Army Sgt. marcos reiswho acted as an adviser.

From Goiás to Rio

According to the investigation, which attaches exchanges of messages between those involved, it all started when Cid maneuvered to obtain an anticovid vaccination certificate for his wife.

He got it thanks to Marcos Reis’s nephew, a doctor by profession, who made a fake one in the state of goias (center).

But given the impossibility of entering the data from there into the Ministry of Health systems, they tried from Rio de Janeiro.

This attempt worked thanks to the mediation of the former councilor Marcello Sicilianowhose name is cited in the investigations into the shooting murder of his colleague Marielle Francoin 2018, and who today was also the subject of searches.

From there, false vaccination data began to be introduced from figures close to Bolsonaro and their relatives from the municipality of Duke of Caxiasin Rio, until a few days before the far-right leader left power, on January 1.

According to the Police, the person in charge of uploading them to the official database was the Secretary of Government of Duque de Caxias, Joao Carlos Gapthe sixth detainee in the operation this Wednesday.

Bolsonaro and a confusing record

The authorities also detectedthe existence of indications of insertion of false data on the vaccine against covid-19″ in relation to the then president.

According to the records, Bolsonaro was able to receive a first dose of Pfizer on August 13 and a second from the same manufacturer on October 14, the latter in the middle of the elections that it lost to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Both alleged punctures were registered in a Duque de Caxias outpatient clinic, although there is no evidence that Bolsonaro was there on the indicated days.

The data for both vaccines was only uploaded to the system on December 21 at the hands of João Carlos Brecha.

Although the records of the two vaccines were eliminated six days later under the allegation that it was a “mistake”.

The same thing happened, on different dates but also in Duque de Caxias, with his daughter Laura12 years old.

His allegedly false vaccination data was uploaded and then deleted, in thesis, “to remove traces“of possible”criminal conduct“, according to the police.

And, despite the fact that Bolsonaro has denied having vaccinated himself and his daughter, the Police maintain that the former president had “full knowledge” of the “fraudulent insertion of vaccination data”, remaining “inertin the face of such a crime.

However, De Moraes noted in the records that “the criminal structure created in Duque de Caxias” was used to promote that “people in the inner circle“of Bolsonaro”could circumvent the sanitary rules imposed in the pandemic”and incidentally, keep his criticism of vaccination against covid-19 facing the public.

In this sense, he considered that Bolsonaro’s denialist position against a disease that has claimed the lives of more than 700,000 in Brazil does “plausible” and “logic“the hypothesis that the former president”in a veiled way” sought for himself and for third parties to falsify vaccination certificates.
