Cristina Kirchner criticizes the request for closure in the case for the attack she suffered

The vice president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchnerdescribed this Monday as an act of “impunity” the decision of a prosecutor to request that the cause of the attack suffered by the ex-president last year be raised to an oral trial without going deeper into the investigation, as required by the complaint.

“In a new act of consecration of impunity, the prosecutor (Carlos) Rívolo closed the investigation of the attempted murder that I suffered on September 1 of last year and requested that the case be raised to trial only with respect to Brenda Uliarte, Fernando Sabag Montiel and Gabriel Nicolas Carrizo”, Kirchner said in a message posted on social networks.

Cristina Kirchner asserted that in his opinion the prosecutor “completely omits to assess everything related to the lines of research that point to people who go beyond Uliarte, Sabag Montiel and Carrizo”.

The attack was perpetrated when Sabag Montiel, a 35-year-old Brazilian at the time, approached Kirchner as he greeted supporters outside his home in Buenos Aireswho showed their support a few days after a prosecutor launched a harsh plea against her in the trial in which she was accused of crimes of corruption in her time as president (2007-2015).

Since then, the vice president, who ended up being sentenced last December to six years in prison and perpetual political disqualification -sentence that is not yet final-, has reiterated her criticism of Justice, which she accuses of persecuting her in order to outlaw her. and to incite political violence.

In his message on Monday, Kirchner assured that neither Rívolo nor the judge in charge of the case, Maria Eugenia Capuchetti“they wanted to investigate the assassination attempt and now they intend to close the investigation with a speed that they never demonstrated in any case”.

I affirm that “the entire investigation was characterized by avoiding knowing the truth“, with “an obvious and desperate attempt to avoid finding the possible involvement of third parties, financiers and instigators”.

The vice president has pointed out on several occasions the alleged links of the attack with opposition politicians, including Patricia Bullrichpresidential candidate for the country’s main opposition coalition.

In his opinion, “From the first day until today, the judicial authorities have placed one obstacle after another to prevent the truth of what happened on September 1, 2022 from coming to light.″.

“As I have said, for Cristina Kirchner there is and will not be justice, neither as the accused nor as the victim. They want me prisoner or dead”, he added.
