About 900 people were evacuated in New Kakhovka after the dam burst

About 900 people were evacuated from flooded areas in the Ukrainian city of New Kakhovkaunder the control of the Russian Army, after the rupture of the upper structure of the dam and the partial flooding of the area, as reported today by the authorities imposed by Russia in this locality.

“In New Kakhovka the floods reached the administrative headquarters and the water level continues to rise. So far, about 900 people have been evacuated.”reported a representative of the city’s emergency services, quoted by the Russian agency Interfax.

According to the most recent data from Emergencies, in New Kakhovka the water level rose by 12 meters, in the town of Dnipriani in 11.2 meters, and in korsunka7.3 meters.

The towns of Dnipriani and korsunka -the latter totally underwater- are located downstream immediately after New Kakhovka.

The rupture of the dam, according to Russia by an attack with multiple missile launchers Alder Ukrainians and, according to kyivby an explosion caused from within the hydroelectric power stationaffects 14 towns where 22,000 people live, according to the president of the Government imposed by Moscow in the region of Kherson, Andrei Alexeenko.
