Mexican Governor Samuel García will seek the presidency in 2030 and not in 2024

The state governor Mexican of New Lion, samuel garciawill look for the presidency in 2030but ruled out appearing at the 2024 election despite being one of the state leaders with the highest approval after managing the arrival of a Tesla plant.

“Right now we are focused on Nuevo León, especially this important moment for New Lion it requires a governor focused 100% on the state, so I’m not going to get caught up in 2024″, indicated in an interview with EFE the governor, from the opposition Citizen movement (MC).

His statements come after the parties started this week the race towards the presidential elections of June 2024 after the elections last Sunday in two states of the country.

The president’s party Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorhe National Regeneration Movement (Morena), conquered the governorship of Mexico statethe most populous in the country, while the opposition alliance of traditional parties “Goes through Mexico” triumphed in the northern Coahuila.

García acknowledged that there are surveys that place him at a high level of popularity, such as the Ranking of Governors of EC Researchin which it was placed in first place this month nationally with 78% approval.

“I have just seen some polls that place me in the first place of popularity of all the governors and some have also passed me that I am already very high at the national level, but I am concentrated in Nuevo León for now, I do not think I will participate”, he insisted.

The state president has gained notoriety for managing the arrival of Teslawhich in February announced that it will install its largest factory in the world in Nuevo León with an investment of between 5,000 and 10,000 million dollars to manufacture 1 million electric cars a year.

He is also known for his social media and his wife, the “influencers” Mariana Rodriguezwho has almost 3 million followers on Instagram.

Garcia had expressed last December that “he signed up” as one of the candidates for the presidency at the national MC conference, while last May he stated that his mother wants him as president.

But now he indicated that his aspirations will be sought in 2030.

“There yes, but Nuevo León is going to be my letter of introduction, that’s why I want to be here focused”, he indicated.

For this 2024, those who lead the polls are the candidates of Morena, as the head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaumand the chancellor Marcelo Ebrardwho announced this Tuesday that he will resign next week.

On who he would like as an MC candidate, García preferred not to comment.
