Pfizer predicts when the world will return to “normal life” after the pandemic but issues a warning

The CEO of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Albert Bourla, predicted this Sunday that in “one year” “normal life” will return after the pandemic of coronavirus covid-19, although it considered probable that it is necessary to be vaccinated “annually” against the disease.

So indicated Bourla, whose pharmaceutical company has developed together with BioNTech one of the vaccines that have shown efficacy against covid-19.

“In a year, I think we will be able to return to normal life”, he assured in an interview on the ABC television network.

Bourla He specified that this does not mean that there are no new variants, but that the vaccines will allow to control the spread of the virus.

In his opinion, the “most likely” scenario, given that the virus is “spread throughout the world”, is that there are these new variants and, therefore, people will have to re-vaccinate annually.

Precisely, this Friday the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, in English) gave the green light to the third dose of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine for those over 65 and people at risk.

As a consequence, this third dose could be available to these groups, numbering millions of Americans, in the coming days.

Currently, 64.6% of the US population over 12 years of age is vaccinated with the double guideline, although the rate of inoculation has slowed down in recent months, which has raised concern among health authorities.

The Government of the US President, Joe Biden, had defended that the third dose of Pfizer be administered to the entire population over 16 years of age, something that the health authorities rejected in the absence of more data.

The of Pfizer/BioNTech It is the only vaccine that is fully approved for use by US regulators, as the other two available, the double dose from Moderna and the single dose from Johnson & Johnson, have emergency authorization .
