A strong earthquake was felt around 11.00 local time (16.00 GMT) this Tuesday in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and caused many citizens to take to the streets.

The Geophysical Institute, belonging to the National Polytechnic School, reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.52 on the open Richter scale and that it had an epicenter in Quito and was recorded at a depth of 4.31 kilometers.
