Just this Saturday, the Venezuelan opposition reported that “with the support of all the unitary forces,” it would be Aurora Superlane (wife) who would assume the candidacy in Barinas this January 9, as indicated by the leader Freddy Guevara.

On November 29, the Supreme Court ordered the rerun of the elections in Barinas after receiving a constitutional protection action filed by Adolfo Superlano, considered a dissident of the opposition, alleging a violation of constitutional rights, among other things, because Freddy Superlano appeared despite being disqualified.

The Supreme Court also reported that “the projections recorded by the National Electoral Council (CNE) give a percentage of votes in favor of candidate Freddy Superlano of 37.60%, compared to 37.21% of votes obtained by the candidate (official) Argenis Chávez ”.

Faced with this situation, the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court declared, “by mere right, the resolution of the constitutional amparo action filed with a request for precautionary measure” and announced the disqualification from the exercise of any public office of the opponent Freddy Superlano.

The disqualification was announced after Freddy Superlano could register in the CNE’s automated system as a candidate, without the latter canceling his application by default in form or data, as he did with other applicants.

Faced with the impossibility of his wife to register her candidacy for the elections of next January 9, Superlano called on the international community not to be “only reporters of arbitrariness”, and assured that “the despair of the regime would not extinguish the will of peaceful and electoral change ”.

This Sunday, President Nicolás Maduro announced that former Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza will be the Chavista candidate for the Governor of Barinas state in the elections that will be repeated.

“We have decided to launch for the Governor of Barinas a proven, honest, capable, brave man, comrade Jorge Arreaza,” Maduro said at an act of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in Barinas in which he participated virtually.
