The balance presented by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) is affected by the reduction of the personnel dedicated to collecting the information, which is usual on weekends, and it is also incomplete, since five of the 27 states of the country have not published their daily informations.

One of them was the state of Minas Gerais, one of the most populated and hit by the pandemic in the country.

With these figures, the total number of deaths in Brazil now stands at 619,133, while infections total 22,293,228.

Also this Sunday, the health authorities confirmed that the five cruise ships operating along the country’s coastline have registered covid-19 outbreaks, although in all cases they have been classified as “mild.”

According to the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), the ships MSC Splendida and Costa Diadema, which registered the infections last Thursday, have been joined over the weekend by the ships MSC Preziosa, Costa Fascinosa and MSC Seaside, which have docked in different ports of the country.

Each of these cruises carries an average of 3,000 people, including passengers and crew, and in total these ships have about 300 confirmed cases of covid-19, according to Anvisa.

The people who have tested negative have disembarked and the rest will remain in quarantine and under strict medical surveillance.

Faced with this situation, Anvisa renewed its recommendation that all cruise ship activities be temporarily suspended, which will be analyzed by the Ministry of Health, which has only said that it remains “attentive” to the outbreaks that have arisen on these ships.
