The Prison Spokesperson, Gabriel Chaglag, said the fight began in the west side of the presidio on Sunday and a shooting soon ensued, the Philippine National Agency reported.

Officers seized several weapons, including a 22-caliber revolver with nine bullets, a 45-caliber homemade pistol, two homemade tube guns and 16 bladed weapons.

Seven prisoners who allegedly played a prominent role in the fight have been transferred to an isolation area.

In October 2020, nine prisoners died in New Bilibid in a fight between gang members Sputnik and Commando, two rival gangs involved in criminal activities and drug trafficking.
