Germany asks Tokayev to revoke “shoot to kill” order in Kazakhstan

The German Government today urged the Kazakh President, Kassym Jomart Tokayev, to revoke the order to shoot to kill against protesters who resist the authorities and all parties involved, to end the violence in Kazakhstan.

In a regular press conference, the deputy spokesperson for the German Executive, Christiane Hoffmann, said that the order to shoot “must be revoked immediately” and stressed that it “violates Kazakhstan’s legal obligations to respect and protect its citizens.” .

Foreign spokeswoman Andrea Sasse, for her part, alluded to the still “confusing situation” in Kazakhstan, although she indicated that there are “certain signs of détente, at least in terms of security, she added.
