Pope Francis expresses his concern for Ukraine and the security of Europe in the face of a possible Russian invasion

The Pope Francisco today expressed concern about the situation on the border between Ukraine Y Russia, due to the escalation of tensions, and warned of possible repercussions for security on the European continent.

“I am following with concern the increase in tensions that threaten to inflict a new blow on peace in Ukraine and put security on the European continent in question with even wider repercussions”, alerted after the Angelus from the window of the Apostolic Palace.

FranciscoBefore the faithful who listened to him from Saint Peter’s Square, he made a “fiery” appeal “to all people of good will” to pray and ask God that “all political action and initiative be at the service of human fraternity ”.

And not, he said, for “partial interests.”

“Whoever pursues his goals at the expense of others, despises his own vocation as a man because we have all been created brothers”, he referred, to later call for next Wednesday a world day of prayer for peace in Ukraine.
