France records a record of 393 daily deaths from coronavirus in this new wave due to the omicron variant

The authorities french reported today 393 deaths from covid in 24 hours, which represents the peak in this epidemic wave marked since December by the explosion of infections due to the omicron variant.

The number of deaths had been much higher on many days during the first two waves, but had not reached that level in the current one since it began in November.

According to the public health agency, the coronavirus has caused the death in France of 129,022 people since the beginning of the records in March 2020. Last week it was more than 1,500.

The agency today announced 108,481 infections, a much lower number than in recent days, but that is explained because they correspond to Sunday, when much fewer tests are carried out.

The number of patients admitted to hospitals, however, rose significantly to 29,748, up from 28,838 on Sunday. It is still below the record that was reached in November 2020, when they reached more than 33,000.

In the intensive care units there were 3,776 people for covid this Monday, 16 more than the day before. There the record is much further away, since in April 2020 there were up to more than 7,100 patients in the ICUs.

With regard to vaccination, 52.5 million people have the complete schedule, which means 77.9% of the total population and more than 93% of adults. In addition, 34 million have received a booster dose.
