Historic GDP growth in 2021

This is a historic increase. With 5.2% growth in 2021, the GDP of the Euro zone had not been so high since 1996. In the lead are France and Italy, close to 7% growth in gross domestic product each, and respectively second and third in the European economy last year.

A rebound which confirms that the EU has largely recovered after a first collapse linked to the Covid-19 crisis. In 2020, its GDP recorded an equally historic but less encouraging record with a fall of 6.4% in the 19 countries sharing the single currency and 5.9% within the European Union, according to the office. GDP growth in China and the USA

On the rise a year later and in line with Brussels’ forecasts, the GDP of the Euro zone nevertheless lags behind its American and Chinese competitors, with respectively 5.7% and 8.1% increase of their gross domestic product in 2021.
