The price of the dollar in Venezuela according to DolarToday operated this Tuesday amid the fact that the United States is weighing Chevron’s request to take oil from the Caribbean country for debt payment.

The dollar stood at 4.60 digital bolivars today in the informal market in Venezuela, according to data from the DolarToday portal.

The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering a proposal by Chevron Corp to allow the US oil company to accept and market shipments of Venezuelan crude to recover its unpaid debt, four people familiar with the discussions said.

Chevron representatives in recent months have held at least one high-level meeting with US diplomats along with envoys from the Venezuelan opposition, according to two of the people. They described it as a milestone in the company’s year-long lobbying efforts to obtain a change to its license to operate in Venezuela.

No decision was reached at the meeting, said two sources in Washington who declined to be identified, and a timetable for further review is not yet clear.

Chevron wants Washington to reinstate the business privileges it once enjoyed under former President Donald Trump. The company and other foreign producers were allowed to seize and export Venezuelan oil to recover dividends and debts from joint ventures with Venezuela’s state oil company, PDVSA.
