The price of the dollar in Venezuela according to DolarToday operated this Monday in the midst of the commemoration of the 33 years of the “Caracazo” by the Government.

The dollar stood at 4.61 digital bolivars today in the informal market in Venezuela, according to data from the portal Dollar today.

On the 33rd anniversary of the social outbreak in Venezuela known as the “Caracazo”, President Nicolás Maduro affirmed this Sunday that Venezuelans “rose up” against the “most ambitious recolonization plan that had been proposed in 200 years.”

“It has been 33 years since the people rose up against the most ambitious recolonization plan that had been proposed in 200 years. We are constituted of a powerful historical consciousness of the past, present and future. Let’s remember the Caracazo”, expressed the president on his Twitter account.

On February 27, 1989, thousands of Venezuelans protested against the incessant rise in prices and the loss of power of wages, mainly in Caracas and the satellite city of Guarenas, about 30 kilometers from the capital.

The protests degenerated into generalized violence and looting that were shot down by the police and military and left an undetermined number of dead, ranging from 300 to 3,000 according to official sources then and now.
