How much is the dollar worth in Chile: check the exchange rate today, Monday, February 28

Lima, February 28, 2022Updated on 02/28/2022 11:02 am

The price of the dollar in Chile opened lower on Monday due to the appreciation of the peso, amid greater uncertainty after a new wave of sanctions from the West against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, which kept risk aversion afloat.

The exchange rate operates at 794.70/795.00 Chilean pesos per dollar, a drop of 1.11%, compared to Friday’s close, according to the Reuters agency.

Meanwhile, the main index of the Santiago stock market, the IPSA, rose 1.29% to 4,521.34 points.

On a global level, the West has tried to block Russia with a series of measures, such as closing the airspace to Russian planes, excluding some Russian banks from the SWIFT global financial network, and limiting Moscow’s ability to deploy its foreign exchange reserves of US$ 630,000 million.

Earlier, other announcements were added, such as that of the energy giant BP, the multinational bank HSBC and the world’s largest aircraft leasing company, AerCap, to the growing list of Western companies that intend to leave Russia.
